Every 6 months or so the girls in our family get away for a weekend. We are grandmothers, mothers, daughters, aunts, sisters, nieces, cousins, and in-laws.
There is always lots of laughter, fond memories, good conversation and food. Lots of good food! This is a place for us to share our recipes with each other.

English Toffee

Another yummy recipe from Kathryn!

English Toffee

2 cubes butter (1/2 pound
3 Tblsp. Karo Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 Tblsp. water
1/2 pkg chocolate chips
1 1/2 cup of chopped nuts

Mix butter, sugar, water and syrup in a large, heavy saucepan. Cook to hard crack stage. Pour mixture onto a jellyroll pan covered with the chopped nuts. Sprinkle chocolate chips onto the top of the warm toffee and spread smooth as it melts. Crack when it cools completely. Enjoy!

The Best Caramels ever

This is Kathryn's recipe and it looks yummy!

1 cup of sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of karo syrup
1 cup butter
1 can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1 pinch of salt

Cook over Med to med hi heat to soft ball stage stirring constantly. When done, pour immediately into a greased 9 x 13 pan. Cool, cut and wrap and enjoy!
